Philadelphia Orchard (POP) Hamilton School Phase 2
The grant is for increased food production in the Cobbs Creek/West Philadelphia neighborhood. Pecan and fruit trees, berries and vines, perennials, stakes, fencing, and mulch will help to expand the orchard. The planting will be cared for by the garden staff of the U of P, assisted by school staff, students, and community volunteers. The aim is to provide food to be used in culinary programs and will also be distributed to families and community volunteers; to enhance on-site after school educational opportunities; and to engage with both nature and the food system.
